**A Nagpur explosives maker just made a $1.4 billion bid for a South African mining and agriculture company** — the kind of outbound acquisition Indian industrials rarely attempt at this scale. Around it, a cluster of smaller but real expansion stories: a telecom-equipment maker adding to an already-large capex plan, an EPC contractor booking over a thousand crore in new orders, and a hotel operator bringing in a partner for a single marquee property.

## The one to read first

**Solar Industries India** agreed to acquire South Africa's **Omnia Holdings** for **21.8 billion rand (\~$1.4 billion / ₹12,951 crore)**, offering 134.5 rand per share — a 14.3% premium to Friday's close — through its wholly owned step-down subsidiary Solar SA Investments. The deal, still subject to regulatory and Omnia-shareholder approval, is expected to close in early-to-mid 2027\. It gives Solar access to Omnia's BME-branded mining business (open-cast mining, bulk explosives, electronic detonation systems, digital blasting, mining chemicals) and marks a real strategic pivot — Solar's first move beyond industrial explosives into crop nutrition and agricultural biological solutions. [The market's initial reaction was unfavorable](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/SOLARINDS%5F14092026122254%5Fsigned%5Fpressrelease.pdf): Solar's own stock slipped 9% on the announcement, and the company held an investor call the same day to address it.

## Expansion and orders

**HFCL** approved an additional \~₹820 crore capex commitment, [taking its total planned optical-fiber expansion spend to ₹1,800 crore](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/AHMED%5F14092026211015%5FSTX%5FAnnouncement%5FBM%5FSeptember14%5F2026.pdf). The new capacity — 4.60 million fiber-km/year of optical fiber, 5.64 million fiber-km/year of optical fiber cable, 300 MT/year of preform — is aimed at hyperscale data-centre, AI-infrastructure and telecom-fiberisation demand; on completion, combined capacity rises to 43.10 million fiber-km, 62.00 million fiber-km and 600 MT respectively. The company says its combined order book for optical fiber cable and connectivity solutions already stands near ₹19,000 crore. Expansion completion is targeted for late 2028, funded through a mix of internal accruals, promoter warrant proceeds already issued, and bank borrowings.

**KEC International** [booked new orders worth ₹1,303 crore](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/KEC%5F14092026090455%5FPressRelease.pdf) spanning its Transmission & Distribution and Cables & Conductors businesses — a 400 kV transmission line in Northern India, 380 kV lines in Saudi Arabia, and a towers/hardware/poles supply contract in the Americas. The company's T&D order intake alone now exceeds ₹7,600 crore for the year.

## Corporate actions

**Lemon Tree Hotels'** wholly owned subsidiary Carnation Hotels signed a Joint Venture Agreement with **RJ Corp** for the Aurika Shillong hotel project, structured through Arum Hotels Private Limited (previously a step-down wholly owned Lemon Tree subsidiary). Under the JV, [Carnation retains 51% and RJ Corp takes 49%](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/LEMONTREE%5F14092026205917%5FStock%5FExchange%5FIntimation%5FJV%5FAgreement.pdf) for a face-value stake worth roughly ₹4.77 crore, with equal board representation and matching share-transfer restrictions on both sides — a single-property partnership, not a broader tie-up.

**Naukri (Info Edge)** disclosed the appointment of Naresh Chand Gupta as Additional Director (Non-Executive Independent) alongside the cessation of Ambarish Raghuvanshi's role as Interim CFO — the filing's own summary cuts off before naming a successor CFO, so that detail isn't yet confirmed here.

## Also filed, thinner on detail

**Nephrocare Health Services (NephroPlus)** disclosed that its Philippines step-down subsidiary made an acquisition, without naming the target or consideration. **Solar Industries** aside, its South African deal aside, **Anand Rathi Wealth's** subsidiary ARFME received IFSCA registration as a Fund Management Entity at GIFT City. **Shreeji Shipping Global** signed a Port Operations Agreement with Indo Energy International for dry-bulk cargo handling at Sanegaon Jetty, Raigad. Sainik Finance and BLB Limited each carried routine SAST-disclosure and revised-results filings respectively, with key figures withheld pending the underlying PDF.
