## The ones to read first

- **IDBI Bank** [forwarded a Ministry of Finance release](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/MANESHJ%5F14102026204555%5FSE%5FPressRelease%5F14102026.pdf) stating that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 14 October approved 10955230 Canada Inc., whose parent is Fairfax Financial Holdings, as the strategic buyer of 60.72% of the bank for ₹52,878 crore. The government sells 30.48% and LIC 30.24%. They keep 15% and 19%.
  - The buyer must now present its credentials to the RBI, under the "fit and proper" assessment done at the first stage, when parties expressed interest, and submit a plan to meet the regulator's conditions.
  - Five parties expressed interest, four qualified and two bid. The release says a first round of bids in 2025-26 fell short of the reserve price and was not approved, and best offers were invited in 2026-27.
  - Two independent valuers, not named, valued the bank on market multiples of public sector banks and on net asset value, both on 31 March 2026 accounts. The release says the winning bid was higher than the benchmark set from their average and higher than each valuer's estimate.
- **Reliance Industries**: its subsidiary Jio Platforms [filed its red herring prospectus](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/kavinavora%5F14102026183404%5FRIL%5FSE14102026.pdf) (the offer document that carries the price band) on 14 October for an initial public offer of up to 27 crore new shares, and [set the price band](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/kavinavora%5F14102026201111%5FRIL%5FSE%5F14102026%5F.pdf) at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 a share. At the top of the band the issue would raise up to about ₹30,213 crore (our arithmetic). It is a fresh issue of new shares by Jio Platforms; the filings do not say how the money will be used.
  - Up to ₹500 crore is reserved for employees, who get ₹54 a share off, and up to ₹2,500 crore for Reliance's public shareholders who are individuals or Hindu undivided families and held shares on 14 October.
  - Anchor investors bid on 19 October. The issue is open from 21 to 23 October, with bids in lots of 12 shares.
- **CEAT** [reported Q2 FY27](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/CEATLTD%5F14102026182218%5FCEATBMOutcomeOct142026signed.pdf), consolidated, from its [investor presentation](https://nsearchives.nseindia.com/corporate/CEATLTD%5F14102026192056%5FCEATInvestorPresentationQ2FY27signed.pdf):

| | Q2 FY26 | Q2 FY27 |
| --------------------------------------------- | ------------ | --------------------- |
| Revenue from operations | ₹3,773 crore | ₹4,762 crore (+26.2%) |
| Gross margin | 40.9% | 34.6% |
| EBITDA (operating profit before depreciation) | ₹511 crore | ₹452 crore |
| EBITDA margin | 13.5% | 9.5% |
| Profit after tax | ₹186 crore | ₹112 crore |

- The presentation says the fall in margin came mainly from raw-material costs, and that the basket of raw materials cost a high single digit more than in the June quarter. Price increases in every segment lifted realisations. Against the June quarter, the EBITDA margin rose from 8.6%.
- The CFO said the West Asia conflict kept commodity costs high and expects the pressure to continue into the December quarter. The managing director said the company plans further price increases in the second half.
- Capital spending in the quarter was about ₹493 crore. Debt rose to ₹3,846 crore, 0.77 times equity against 0.65 times at the end of June. In the six months to September, standalone sales were 50% replacement, 30% to vehicle makers and 20% exports.

  - Combined ratio (claims and expenses as a share of premium; above 100% means the insurance business itself lost money before investment income): 107.0% against 105.1% on the 1/n basis, and 104.5% against 103.9% on the n basis. Catastrophe losses were ₹118 crore against ₹73 crore.
