Daily Filing Digest — Saturday, 22 Aug 2026

Two new-territory articles, a heavier ADVERSE cluster, and two real auditor resignations — all linked to source.
Daily Filing Digest — Saturday, 22 Aug 2026

1,213 filings screened from yesterday's Day Pack — only 3 rated HIGH by the desks, but a deliberately deeper manual sweep across every triage level surfaced 40 SUPPORT/ADVERSE-flagged rows the automated harvest alone would have missed. Two new-territory articles today, both away from this week's pricing-power theme: a packaging maker whose real edge is geography, not brand (UFlex), and a post-insolvency cable manufacturer staking its recovery on a qualification barrier (Diamond Power). A heavier ADVERSE cluster today too — two fresh NCLT insolvency admissions and a qualified audit opinion buried inside a routine AGM transcript.

Today's articles

  • UFLEX — Q1 FY27 call: the same packaging product earns roughly 2.5x the realization overseas versus India — "in India, the passing of pricing to our customers is slightly difficult, whereas prices can be passed on much easily to our overseas customers." The moat is a multi-country manufacturing footprint (Egypt, Nigeria, Mexico, Europe), not domestic pricing power — and it works in reverse for Aseptic Packaging, which faces duty-free Indonesian imports under an existing trade treaty. Revenue +38% YoY, EBITDA +92% YoY; overall packaging volumes still down 8.4% YoY. Not yet in our scored universe. Full read · (Filed transcript, 17-Aug-2026, p.20, p.13)
  • Diamond Power Infrastructure — Q1 FY27 call: fresh out of insolvency resolution and a ₹1,640cr QIP, management stakes its claim plainly — "the field of credible suppliers is narrowed" above the commoditized low-voltage end of the cable market. Revenue +129% YoY but gross margin was explicitly weak this quarter ("we absorbed a weaker gross margin"); FY27 guidance requires roughly double Q1's run-rate for the rest of the year, by management's own description. A genuine entry-barrier claim, tested against a real execution risk. Not yet in our scored universe. Full read · (Filed transcript, 14-Aug-2026, p.5, p.3)

Today's filings

  • APL Apollo Tubes — FY26 Annual Report: revenue ₹230.8bn (+12%), EBITDA ₹18.0bn (+50%), PAT ₹12.0bn (+59%). Chairman states a price increase was "absorbed in full" without volume loss, and that the gap to the rest of the field "widened — from an exception into a structural premium." (Annual report, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Ashok Leyland — Q1 FY27 call: revenue ₹9,634cr (+10%), 29% domestic MHCV share. A ~1.2-1.25% price hike in Q1 (more taken in July) offset roughly half of commodity inflation; new air-suspension multi-axle truck called an "industry first." (Filed transcript, 21-Aug-2026)
  • KRBL — record quarter: revenue ₹1,496cr, EBITDA margin 23.8%. Basmati realisations up ~20% YoY despite falling export volumes; India Gate took a ~9% domestic price hike, with the CFO citing prices at the "higher end of the bandwidth" — brand-led pricing power stated plainly. (Filed transcript, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Grasim Industries — Chairman's AGM speech: UltraTech crossed 200 MtPA grey cement capacity; Birla Opus already #2 by capacity with 10% revenue share in decorative paints after ~2 years; ~₹4,000cr committed to roughly 5x Lyocell fibre capacity. (AGM intimation, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Jupiter Wagons — Q1 FY27 call: consolidating India's first fully integrated private-sector railwheel platform (buying out remaining 1.94% of a JV, new Lucchini RS/SIMEST partnership for 25%, ₹290cr), on certification-barrier language similar to today's Diamond Power piece. Revenue +46% YoY but EBITDA only +9% — margin dilution from ramp-up. Already scored 5.24, NARROW; this quarter's evidence is a candidate to sharpen that page's Switching Costs and Cost Advantage reads in a future update, not a new article. (Filed transcript, 18-Aug-2026)
  • Paramount Communications — Q1 FY27 call: grew from 2 to 8 US distributors over a decade and held those relationships through the IEEPA tariff shock; US exports now ₹155cr (29%+ of revenue). Revenue ₹529.4cr (+17.4%); customers have only recently agreed tariff costs sit with the buyer, not Paramount — a liability until this quarter. (Filed transcript, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Satiate Agri — NCLT Indore admitted a Section 7 IBC petition on an admitted default of ₹6.27cr; CIRP and moratorium commenced 20-Aug-2026, board suspended, IRP appointed. (NCLT order intimation, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Gangotri Textiles — NCLT Chennai admitted the company's own Section 10 CIRP petition on a ₹240.46cr default. The filing itself records that lenders sold all nine manufacturing units, five wind mills and vacant land back in 2015 — the operating business was dismantled a decade before this filing formalised it. (NCLT order intimation, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Varroc Engineering — buried inside a routine AGM transcript: the statutory auditor issued a qualified opinion on FY26 accounts over disputed income of ₹209.89mn (FY26) and ₹231.82mn (FY25) under a technology/marketing agreement with two related parties, arbitration pending with possible further claims. (AGM transcript, 21-Aug-2026)
  • DPSC Ltd (India Power) — promoter entity Aksara Commercial sold 50,000 shares during a closed trading window — while the company is already under NCLT Hyderabad CIRP (ordered 15-May-2026). Governance oversight breaking down mid-resolution, not before it. (SEBI PIT violation intimation, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Sri Lakshmi Saraswathi Textiles Arni — auditors issued a qualified going-concern opinion; negative net worth of ₹85.10cr, alongside material non-remittance of statutory dues (EPF, ESI, TDS/TCS totalling roughly ₹1.77cr). (Audit qualification filing, 21-Aug-2026)
  • Laxmi Cotspin — swung to a Q1 loss. Auditor qualified the review over unverified inventory of ₹4,320.29 lakh, an un-evidenced ₹731.40 lakh advance to a wholly-owned subsidiary with no ECL provisioning, and an incomplete land transfer to that same subsidiary. (Clarification filing, 21-Aug-2026)

Governance note: two statutory-auditor resignations today — IL&FS Investment Managers (KKC & Associates LLP resigned effective 13-Aug-2026, replaced by C N K & Associates LLP) and Katare Spinning Mills (G M Pawle and Associates replaced by Hiremath Patil Udgiri and Associates). Both casual-vacancy fills, not qualified-opinion departures. (IVC filing · KATRSPG filing)

Also flagged: Endurance Technologies won 100% of a bankrupt competitor's transmission business at Mercedes and holds 42% India brake-disc share; Finolex Cables raised prices on elevated copper costs in May and held them (revenue +44% YoY); Power Grid was declared successful TBCB bidder on two new Gujarat transmission lines at a discovered tariff of ₹822.91cr/year; SKF India won a first-ever wheel-end programme from a large PV OEM after multi-year audits; Pine Labs posted its first full profitable year (GTV $194bn, +50%) and frames bank/merchant integration as making switching "a migration of the system of record itself"; MM Forgings describes forging capacity structurally shifting from the US/Europe to India on lost skills, not just cost; Vardhman Polytex was ordered by NCLT Chandigarh to pay ₹10.19cr plus 15% interest within 30 days on a legacy dispute, appeal pending.

From today's filings

Today's articles: "The Moat That Only Works Overseas: Inside UFlex's Pricing Gap" and "'The Field of Credible Suppliers Is Narrowed': Diamond Power's Bet on Qualification". Staged for Sunday's Weekly Filing Digest: today's ADVERSE cluster (Satiate Agri and Gangotri Textiles as fresh auditor-adjacent/insolvency entries — note neither is a statutory-auditor resignation, so they don't move that specific counter; Varroc's buried qualified opinion as a "read past the headline" receipt) and Jupiter Wagons flagged for a MoatSCORE-page update rather than a fresh article.
