Bajaj Finance's board approved raising up to ₹11,700 crore through a QIP and ₹5,800 crore of warrants for its parent Bajaj Finserv. RBI approved new chief executives for HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank. Sterlite Technologies' subsidiary signed a supply agreement worth about US$1.2 billion with an international hyperscaler. CBI named Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Power as accused in a chargesheet. And the automakers' September sales closed the quarter: Tata Motors' cars grew fastest.

The automakers' 1 October filings close the July–September quarter. Ranked by domestic sales growth from their own filings:
- Cars: Tata Motors PV +40.3%, Maruti Suzuki +38.1%, Mahindra +26.0%, Hyundai about +18.8%. In September alone Maruti grew fastest (+36.9%).
- Two-wheelers: TVS +24.1%, Royal Enfield +16.4%, Hero MotoCorp +12.9%, Bajaj Auto +1.8%.
- Trucks and tractors: Ashok Leyland +34.4%, Tata Motors CV +30.9%, Escorts Kubota +0.9%.

Capital
- Bajaj Finance's board approved a QIP of up to ₹11,700 crore and a preferential issue of warrants of up to ₹5,800 crore, subject to shareholders at an EGM. - Reliance Industries allotted ₹13,008.61 crore of unsecured NCDs at 7.90%: a ₹12,000 crore base issue plus green shoe.
- Shriram Finance settled its dollar-note tender offers, buying back US$299.98 million of its 2027 notes and US$160 million of its 2028 notes for about US$479 million in all.
- Jayaswal Neco allotted warrants worth about ₹200 crore to promoter-group firm Vibrant Enterprises at ₹89.13, with 25% (about ₹50 crore) paid now.
- Aarti Industries' board approved an enabling resolution to raise up to ₹1,000 crore.
People
- HDFC Bank: RBI approved Anup Bagchi as MD and CEO for three years from 27 October 2026.

- KPI Green Energy: Dr Alok Das resigned as group CEO with effect from 1 October, the day after the company announced its ₹2,410 crore wind acquisition (see our 30 Sep article).
- Hikal: founder Jai Hiremath's term as executive chairman ended on 1 October.
- Triveni Turbine's COO, Sachin Parab, resigned.
- SME boards: Abhishek Sandeepkumar Agrawal resigned as a non-executive director of Airan and Quadpro ITES, and Poonam Sandeepkumar Agrawal from Indifra, all on 1 October, citing professional commitments.
Banks: the first Q2 numbers
Thirteen banks posted provisional figures for 30 September. At most of them, loans grew faster than deposits:
- Union Bank deposits +6.9%, advances +18.5%; its domestic credit-deposit ratio rose to 84.34% from 77.01%.
- Karnataka Bank deposits +12.0%, advances +24.9%; UCO Bank deposits +14.1%, advances +24.7%.
- Canara Bank deposits +13.1%, advances +19.4%; Indian Bank +12.4% and +16.6%; Punjab & Sind Bank +13.0% and +19.4%; Karur Vysya +16.0% and +20.3%.
- Closer to balance: South Indian Bank +18.7% and +18.7%, ESAF SFB +24.3% and +25.1%, Tamilnad Mercantile +25.5% and +29.4%, Dhanlaxmi +20.2% and +22.3%, CSB +18.3% and +22.1%, Capital SFB +16.3% and +23.4%.
The large private banks and SBI had not filed by the end of the day.
Deals
- Hindalco and AluChem terminated the agreement for Hindalco's US subsidiary to buy AluChem, "due to extended closure delays beyond the control of either party". Filed at 23:02.
- TCS and Best Buy agreed to transition Best Buy's global capability centre in India to TCS.
- GE Power India: the NCLT sanctioned its scheme of arrangement with JSW Energy.
- MTNL's board approved selling its Powai Plot-C in Mumbai to the Income Tax Department for ₹891.53 crore.
- Sunteck Realty approved demerging the Sunteck City 4th Avenue business of its subsidiary Satguru into itself; that business had FY26 turnover of about ₹869 crore, about 77% of Sunteck's consolidated turnover.
- Viyash Scientific's subsidiary completed buying BioForLife Italia for €15.0 million plus €1.976 million deferred.
- Gland Pharma will invest US$21 million in its US subsidiary, which will subscribe to 60% of Novelstar Pharma.
- AXISCADES completed selling its engineering services business to Akkodis, receiving US$11.76 million at closing.
- Piramal Pharma's sales and distribution arrangement with Bayer will not be renewed after 31 December; it accounts for less than 5% of consolidated revenue.
- Jagsonpal Pharmaceuticals completed buying Group Pharmaceuticals' wellness portfolio for about ₹23.7 crore upfront plus up to about ₹23 crore linked to FY28 sales.
Orders
- Sterlite Technologies' subsidiary signed a long-term supply agreement with an international hyperscaler for optical connectivity products, with "total potential value" of about US$1.2 billion over its term. Full read: STL Signs a ~$1.2 Billion Hyperscaler Supply Deal
- GPT Infraprojects' South African subsidiary won a ₹385 crore order (ZAR 660 million) from Transnet Freight Rail for railway sleepers over five years.
- TD Power Systems' US subsidiary won an order of about ₹192 crore for generators for gas-turbine applications.
- HEG's subsidiary Replus Engitech received orders worth ₹127.35 crore from Indus Towers for lithium-ion battery banks.
- Laser Power & Infra won ₹72.77 crore of POWERGRID contracts, its first commercial order for high-temperature low-sag conductors.
Operations
- Adani Green commissioned 481.9 MW of renewables and 3,081 MWh of battery storage, taking operational capacity to 20,762.70 MW and storage to 6,632 MWh.
- Lloyds Metals reported H1 iron-ore output of 10 million tonnes, up 36%, and DRI output up 104%.
- Coal India's supplies rose 12.5% in September to 61.20 million tonnes.
- V-Mart reported Q2 revenue of ₹953 crore, against ₹807 crore, with 613 stores.
- APL Apollo had record Q2 volume of 963,143 tonnes, against 855,037. JTL grew Q2 volume 25.3%; Surya Roshni's steel pipes grew 23%; Bansal Wire 12.44%.
- MRPL confirmed it withdrew fuel export tenders after the 30 September fire, and expects to refloat them.
Tax, courts and regulators
- Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Power each disclosed that CBI's press release names them as accused in its second chargesheet in the Reliance Home Finance matter (R-Power's filing). Both say they will take steps to protect their interests.
- Bharat Coking Coal disclosed a certificate case in Dhanbad alleging about ₹3,816.83 crore is recoverable on behalf of the Government of Jharkhand.
- GST notices: SRF ₹266.32 crore of ITC for FY23–FY24; ICICI Bank about ₹229.14 crore plus interest and penalty, on services to minimum-balance account holders; Skipper about ₹227.53 crore; Yatra and a subsidiary, tax of ₹39.89 crore plus interest and penalty; Mahindra Holidays ₹36.30 crore; Blue Dart's aviation subsidiary ₹27.10 crore; Nuvoco's subsidiary ₹24.99 crore; 5paisa ₹15.31 crore; WeWork India ₹11.01 crore.
- Eureka Forbes: the UP GST demand we reported on 28 Sep was rectified down from ₹273.40 crore to ₹4.50 crore.
- MRPL won: the Karnataka High Court dismissed the department's appeal on about ₹217.38 crore of CENVAT credit.
- Sudarshan Chemical: Maharashtra GST officials began an inspection and search at some of its offices and plants on 1 October.
- Godrej Properties: the environment ministry revoked the environmental clearance for its Godrej Eternia building in Chandigarh; the company has appealed to the NGT.
- Vedanta Aluminium Metal: the Orissa High Court dismissed its petition against the bauxite linkage policy.
- SEBI warning letters: PNB, over insider-trading violations by three designated persons and their relatives; Deepak Fertilisers, for past non-disclosures; Balaji Amines, for not disclosing a 2024 DGFT order that placed its import-export licence on the Denied Entity List.
Defaults
- Siti Networks (in CIRP) disclosed loans of ₹1,206.03 crore in default across eight lenders.
- Gayatri Highways disclosed a default of ₹50.15 crore to financial institutions.
- SecureKloud defaulted on ₹3.14 crore of interest on a loan from its promoter.
Shareholder votes
- Manipal Health: shareholders rejected an "upside sharing arrangement" between Manipal Research & Management Services International and TPG SG Magazine, with 61.99% of valid votes against. The other ten resolutions passed.
- GenXAI Analytics (SME): a material related-party transaction with its US step-down subsidiary was not approved, with 71.79% against; the related promoters' votes were not counted.
- Vishnusurya Projects (SME): commission for non-executive directors was not passed, with 80% against.
Stakes and credit
- Avalon Technologies' promoter group sold 6% in block deals on 30 September. Kapston Services' promoter sold 3% in the market.
- AU Small Finance Bank: ICRA revised its Tier II bond outlook to Positive. Aditya Birla Real Estate: CARE revised its NCD outlook to Positive.
